Sarah Leak – creator
of Quilt Fabric Delights
I delight in the colours, textures and patterns of fabric,
and I love how it can be used in so many ways. It is wonderful to watch two
people take the same fabric and create two very different results.
As a child, I was surrounded by people creating things – my
mother sewed, my grandmothers knitted and my father did woodwork, painting and
lead lighting. However, I didn’t show much interest in crafts myself until much
later – in fact, my mother is still amazed at what I now do for a living!
So much of my craft skill has been self-taught – there are
plenty of craft projects that don’t need a lot of prior sewing or craft
knowledge so I encourage everyone to give it a go.
Obviously, I’m passionate about fabrics and all the things
you can do with them – quilting, sewing clothes, smocking, embroidery, bag
making and more. Hand made items and gifts are so precious, and I love making
them for the special people in my life.
Fabric craft has given me a creative outlet and been a great
way to meet people and make friends. It
has also led me to start this business sourcing unique, limited edition
fabrics, patterns and kits to share with others who are passionate about making
handmade items.
Quilt Fabric Delights
Quilt
Fabric Delights provides carefully handpicked materials for the craft
enthusiast wishing to make unique handcrafted items for the special people in
their lives. It was started as an online store
in May 2006 by Sarah Leak.
The range includes unusual and difficult to find fabrics, as
well as user-friendly books and patterns. Some fabrics, patterns and kits are
exclusive to Quilt Fabric Designs, including the Little Delights and Susan
O’Donnell ranges, whilst others are selected for their beauty or appeal.
Our exclusive Little Delights range consists of 100% cotton
fabrics in kits for creating items for the little people in your life.
The Handcraft Helpline forum on the website is there so
crafters have a place to ask questions and share their passion. The helpline
provides tips, techniques and tools relevant to a variety of craft projects.
QFD specialises in selling fabrics and patterns, rather than
general haberdashery or other crafting supplies. Unless specifically mentioned
in a product description, all of our prices are retail and are not available at
wholesale.
Our showroom is in Adelaide, South Australia and is open by appointment only for up to six people. Please contact us if you would like to see the fabrics in person.
